Arntson was announced as the Argo head track and field/cross country coach in July of 2019. He arrived at the University of Providence after serving as the head football coach and head track and field coach at Helena High School and most recently as an assistant football coach at Carroll College.
Arntson has been coaching in the state of Montana for the past 30 years. His experience spans from being a graduate assistant to the head coaching ranks in both track and field and football. He has also coached in many different capacities, from serving as a high school coach to working as an assistant and head coach within collegiate athletics.
Prior to his time with the Saints, Arntson served over the past 21 years as the head track and field coach and for 25 years as the head football coach at Helena High School. With the Bengals, Arntson helped lead Helena's track and field program to two state championship titles, four runner-up finishes, and four third-place finishes. The Bengals also set 14 school records and a pair of state records during his extensive career at Helena.
Arntson began his head coaching career as the head track coach at Charlo High School. He served as the Vikings head coach for three years, earning a pair of top-3 finishes at state two of his three seasons with Charlo.
Before becoming a head coach, Arntson served as an assistant coach at his alma mater, Charles M. Russell High School (CMR). With the Rustlers, he served as the quarterbacks and running backs coach during the 1989 and 1990 seasons. CMR produced a pair of undefeated seasons and won two state championships during Arntson's time at CMR. He coached three All-State running backs and an All-State quarterback in Dave Dickinson.
Arntson began working in athletics at his alma mater, the University of Montana, working with spring ball and summer camps as a graduate assistant for the Grizzlies following his graduation.
He was the quarterback for the Grizzlies during his four-year collegiate career at the University of Montana (UM), earning a B.A. in business and physical education.
