GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The No. 11 Argos (9-7-1) closed out their home slate on Thursday evening with a 6-4 upset of the No. 9 Montana State University Bobcats (14-10).
Kyler Mack led all scorers in the matchup, netting a hat trick, while
Cody Hendrickson scored two and
Erik Gatson tallied one goal in the win. Mack and Hendrickson led the team in assists, tallying two assists a piece.
The Argos got things started less than 30 seconds into play as Mack and
Jeron Hirschfeld delivered a puck to Gatson who gave the Argos the opening lead, 1-0.
The Bobcats were able to tally two scored in the final three minutes of the period to take the advantage headed into the first intermission, 2-1.
Mack netted his first score of the evening at the 13-minute mark of the second period on a puck from
Leo Felt during a power play to tie things up at two, 2-2.
He tallied another one in the second with slightly over five minutes left in period to give the Argos their first lead since the 2:28-minute mark of the first period, 3-2.
Both squads were quiet over the first 10 minutes of the third period as the Bobcats didn't equalize the match until the nine-minute mark to even things at three.
Hendrickson put the Argos back in front after handling a pass from Mack with slightly over five-minutes to play, 4-3.
Less than two minutes later, Mack completed his hat trick after punching in a loose puck in front of the goal to give the Argos their first multiple score advantage of the match, 5-3.
Montana State cut the deficit to one with a minute and seven seconds to play, 5-4.
However, the Argos would seal the victory on a power play goal with nine seconds to go as Hendrickson launched a puck across the ice to net the puck in an empty goal and give the Argos the 6-4 victory.

The Argos will hit the road on Saturday, February 2 as they will travel to Bozeman, Montana to take on the Montana State University Bobcats at 7 p.m. for their second matchup of the week.
