GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The No. 9 Argos battled the No. 4 MSU-Northern Lights through the final match but ultimately the Lights took the 23-15 victory.
Deven Altenburg-Lasher got things started at 125 pounds. Altenburg only allowed four points through the first two periods, but a back-and-forth third period would eventually bring things to 15-1 major decision for the Lights' No. 9 Nick Kunz.
The Lights would add three more points in the 133-pound class as the Lights' No. 13 Landon Bailey as
Eli Walston fell 9-2.
The Argos
TJ Baun battled hard with the top-ranked wrestler at 141 pounds, but the Lights would take the 3-1 sudden victory to increase their lead to 10. Baun held the advantage through two following a second-period escape, 1-0. No. 1 Matt Weber would tally an escape of his own in the final period to send things to overtime. Weber would earn a takedown to close things out, 3-1.
At 149 pounds, No. 10
Shonn Roberts got the Argos on the scoreboard with a first-period pin. Following a 6-0 run to open things up, Shonn would eventually end things at the 2:24-minute mark to put the Argos within four, 10-6.
The Lights would take the next match to extend their lead to 14-6. The Argos' No. 5
Casey Dobson was only down one through two periods, but a 3-0 final two minutes would eventually seal things for the Lights' No. 3 Brandon Weber, 4-0.
MSU-Northern would retake a double-digit advantage, 16-6, following the 165-pound match as No. 10 Andrew Bartel defeated No. 1
Adrian Lyons-Lopez. Bartel tallied an escape in the second period to hold the slight advantage headed into the final two minutes, 1-0. Lyons-Lopez would knot things up at one after an escape of his own and eventually sending things into overtime. The Lights would eventually find success in the overtime period as they would take the 3-1 sudden victory.
Chase Short of MSU-Northern would tally four more for the Lights in the 174-pound weight class. Following a 3-3 tie after three minutes, the Short went on a 9-1 run to eventually take the 12-4 major decision.
Randy Keesler got the Argos going again as he earned a 2-1 decision at 174 pounds. Steeler French earned an escape after choosing bottom following the first period, but a clutch second-period takedown would eventually prove to be the match-winner to bring the Argos within seven, 16-9.
The Lights' No. 2 Isaac Bartel would eventually seal things for MSU-Northern as he earned a 3-2 decision over the Argos' No. 7
John Hensley. Bartel lead by one following an escape in the second period, 1-0. Hensley would tie things up at one, but a takedown within the final 10 seconds of the match follow by an escape for Hensley would close the match, 3-2.
Matthew Hopkins closed things out with a dominant first-period pin over MSU-Northern's Jase Stokes. Hopkins earned a takedown to go up by two before eventually earning the 1:07 pin to close things out, 23-15.

The Argos now set their eyes on the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament which is being hosted by the University of Providence at the McLaughlin Center on Friday, February 15 and Saturday, February 16.
