#3 Argos Top #4 Bobcats to Complete Weekend Sweep

BOZEMAN, Mont. – The #3 University of Providence hockey team got their second straight win over #4 Montana State, defeating the #4 Bobcats (14-9) 5-3 Sunday evening in Bozeman, Mont.

Will Wright scored two goals for the Argos (9-4), while Levi Anderson, Leo Felt and Tobias Robinson all added one. Wright and Anderson also added an assist for the squad.

"They made a little push at the end, but I felt like we were in control for most of the game," head coach Jeff Heimel said. "It was a gritty win."

The win comes two nights after the Argos defeated the Bobcats on Friday night in Great Falls for senior night. The team hopes the two straight victories for the team are enough to move up in the rankings.

"This weekend was huge for our program," Heimel said. "We're in the final push so being able to make a push for that #2 spot in the rankings is really important right now. Obviously we want to distance ourselves from Montana State. Creating that opportunity to move up in the rankings was tremendously important."

But even more importantly, according to Heimel, is the improvement on the ice. The team is 3-1 since the team reconvened after the holiday break, with the sole loss coming at the hands of the top-ranked University of Mary. Since that loss, the team has won three straight games.

"I've seen an improvement in almost every game so far this new year," Heimel said. "I thought we played well Friday night minus giving up a few scoring chances. We played a solid game defensively. We're starting to grow and be a little bit more of a complete hockey team. We're seeing less of those bad moments and our consistency is starting to be there. We're more of a complete hockey team."

The Argos will take the next week off before taking the ice again on Jan. 28 against the University of Montana in Missoula.
