10/5/2023 10:58:00 PM

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Argos defeated Weber State 8-5 in the first game at the Great Falls Ice Plex this season.

UP would jump out in front midway through the first period when freshman Chavez Constant received senior Jakob Stevenson's pass for his second goal of the year.

The Argos would extend their lead to two early in the second period when Stevenson's second assist of the night found senior Ty Alger whose backhand shot beat the goaltender.

UP would score again a minute later when freshman Adam Husli found freshman Colby Friedrich who connected with freshman Jamal Kalaf to make it 3-0.

Weber State would cut into the lead midway through the second period when they took advantage of an Argo equipment issue.

Argos would answer three minutes later when Kalaf found Friedrich for his second point of the night.

The rest of the second period went back and forth with the Wildcats and the Argos each scoring two more goals to make it 6-3 going into the third. Friedrich and Stevenson each scored a goal at the end of the second.

Kalaf and senior Braden Bain would begin the third period scoring a minute apart and extending the Argo lead to five. Despite a late push by the Wildcats, the Argos held on to win the game 8-5.

The Argos will be back in action Oct. 6 when they host Utah State University. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Great Falls Ice Plex.
