GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program fell to Montana State in overtime 5-4 Friday night.

The Argos (3-4) had an opportunity three minutes into the game when sophomore Darnell Glasgo side-stepped the defender, but his wrist shot was saved by the Bobcat goaltender.

A few minutes later on an Argos power play UP broke through when senior Fabian Vik passed it to sophomore Jamal Shaw at the top of the point and his slapshot found the back of the net to put UP ahead 1-0.

The Bobcats (5-3) answered four minutes later to tie the game at one, but moments later the Argos threatened with the puck behind the Bobcats net where senior Colby Friedrich passed it into the slot to Vik whose shot was tipped in by senior Adam Husli to give UP a 2-1 lead.

Neither side would add another goal until with six minutes remaining in the second period the Bobcats found the equalizer on a back-hand wrist shot, but the Argos quickly answered when Friedrich won the faceoff in the offensive zone and his wrist shot beat the goaltender to put UP in front 3-2.

Midway through the third period the Bobcats tied the game at three on the power play, and a few moments later added another goal to take a 4-3 lead.

Following back and forth play by both teams the Argos had an opportunity when junior AJ Belanger found junior Jamal Kalaf and his wrap around shot went past the goaltender's blocker to tie the game at four with a minute and a half remaining.

Both sides had chances over the final 90 seconds but neither could find the go-ahead goal as the Argos went into overtime tied at four.

The Argos had a few chances including a shot off the post in overtime, but the Bobcats scored with just over one minute left as UP fell to Montana State 5-4.

The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Oct. 18 when they head to Bozeman, Mont. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. versus Montana State.
