OGDEN, Utah – The University of Providence hockey program fell to Weber State 6-4 Thursday night.

The Argos (3-5-1) scored the first goal of the contest when senior Colby Friedrich found senior Adam Husli in front of the net, and he connected with senior Fabian Vik out wide whose wrist shot beat the goalkeeper to give UP a 1-0 lead.

Three minutes later the Wildcats (14-0) answered to tie the game at one, and both sides had chances over the final five minutes of the first, but neither could find the go-ahead goal as UP went into the break tied at one.

The Argos had a pair of shots go off the post to begin the second, but Weber State responded scoring two goals in just under a minute to take a 3-1 lead.

The Wildcats added another goal with four minutes left in the second period, but on the power play the Argos cut into the lead when Husli found Friedrich and his wrist shot beat the goalkeeper to make it 4-2 heading into the third.

Weber State scored a pair of goals in the third period, but the Argos answered, cutting the lead in half with a goal from sophomore Jamal Shaw with five minutes remaining.

Just over a minute later while the Argos were shorthanded Friedrich skated around the defenders and beat the goalkeeper to bring UP within two.

The Argos had a few chances down the stretch, but were unable to find the back of the net as UP fell to Weber State 6-4.

The Argos will be back in action on Friday, Oct. 31 when they head to Salt Lake City, Utah. Puck drop is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. against the University of Utah.
