LOGAN, Utah – The University of Providence hockey program defeated Utah State 5-2 Saturday night.

The Argos (4-6-1) scored the first goal of the contest when on the power-play senior Adam Husli found senior Colby Friedrich and his one-timer beat the goaltender to put UP ahead 1-0.

UP continued their momentum with a goal with a minute left in the first period when senior Fabian Vik's shot went off the goaltender and Husli grabbed the loose puck and chipped it into the back of the net to extend the Argo lead to two.

The Argos did not go away adding their third first period goal when sophomore Sam Duehlmeier's slap shot from the point went off the goalkeeper and senior Nicholas Demchuk corralled the loose puck and sent it past the goaltender.

UP continued their momentum into the second period when from behind the net senior Stanislav Struthers found junior Elliott Venini whose wrist shot found the back of the net to put the Argos in front 4-0.

Two minutes later Struthers picked off a pass in the offensive zone and with a one-on-one with the goalie his wrist shot beat the goaltender to give UP a 5-0 advantage.

The Aggies added a pair of goals midway through the second period, but neither side could find the back of the net the rest of the way as the Argos defeated Utah State 5-2.

The Argos will be back in action on Friday, Nov. 1 when they head to Missoula, Mont. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. against the University of Montana.
