LA GRANDE, Ore. – The University of Providence men's wrestling program went 3-0 at the Mountaineer Duals on Saturday.

In the first dual of the day against Clackamas Community College, freshman Boden Banta earned his first career win as an Argo defeating Jeremiah Wachsmuth 6-3.

Following losses at 133, 141, and 149, the Argos put together back-to-back pins with #1 Pig Hobbs over Trae Frederick in 1:31 and junior Irish Furthmyre over Aaron Concepcion in 2:36.

The Argos fell in close matches at 174 and 197, but at 184 Brady Ellison pinned Pablo Hernandez in 4:24 and #14 Ethan DeRoche defeated Mark Marin 8-2 to secure the Argos 24-17 dual victory over the Cougars.

In the second dual versus #16 Corban the Argos dominated from start to finish. Banta picked up a ranked victory to start it off defeating #20 Brayden Boyd. Following a forfeit from Corban at 133 and a loss from UP at 141, UP rattled off five victories in a row including Hobbs and Ellison's second pins of the day over #7 Jr Downing and Andrews Nicacio to take the 46-3 victory over Corban.

In the final dual the Argos continued to dominate with Banta starting things off with a pin over William Moore in 43 seconds. #24 Blake Woolsey put the Argos ahead 11-0 with a tech fall over Jesus Bracamonte, and following a loss at 141, junior Cade White pinned Israel Gutirrez in 1:20.

UP did not stop their with Hobbs and Ellison earning their third pins of the day, and junior Brendan Lockart wrapped up the dual with a pin over Juan Luquin in 1:37 to secure the dual victory over Westcliff 46-11.

The Argos will be back in action Nov. 2 for the Mountaineer Open in La Grande, Ore. Wrestlers will begin at 10:00am (MST) on Sunday.
