GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program dominated #3 Montana State University Friday night defeating the Bobcats 5-0.
Following a scoreless first period the Argos (14-6-2) netted the first goal of the game 30 seconds into the second period when junior
Adam Husli sent the puck up the ice to senior
Colby Friedrich and he buried his wrist shot to put UP ahead 1-0.
The Argos continued to put the pressure on until a few minutes later when senior
Fabian Vik found Husli on the three-on-two break and he went top corner to beat the goaltender and put UP in front 2-0.
Neither side added a goal until midway through the third period when off a faceoff win from the Argos, Friedrich found
Zach Fulton heading towards the net and his wrist shot found the back of the net to extend the UP lead to three.
The Argos added another pair of goals down the stretch behind a wrist shot from junior
Chavez Constant and a few minutes later junior
AJ Belanger went five-hole to beat the goaltender, and despite a late powerplay for the Bobcats (20-10), freshman
Tucker Bayly completed the shutout as the Argos defeated #3 Montana State 5-0.
The Argos will be back in action on Saturday, Jan. 17 when they head to Bozeman, Mont. Puck-drop is scheduled for 8:15 p.m. (MST) versus #3 Montana State.
