GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence hockey program fell to #3 Montana State 5-3 Saturday night.
The Bobcats (21-10) controlled the game for the first two periods, getting out to a 5-0 lead, but midway through the third period senior
Colby Friedrich skated around the net and found senior
Fabian Vik who beat the goaltender to cut the lead to four.
The Argos (14-7-2) continued their momentum scoring a minute later when junior
Kaleb West's slapshot from the blue line ricocheted off defenders to junior
Jamal Kalaf who chipped it into the back of the net to make it 5-2.
The Argos kept pressuring for the next four minutes until on the power-play senior
Adam Husli found sophomore
Daniel Tainton in front of the net and he pushed it past the goaltender to cut the lead to two.
Providence had a few chances over the final three minutes but were unable to find the back of the net as UP fell to #3 Montana State 5-3.
The Argos will be back in action on Friday, Jan. 23 when they head to Missoula, Mont. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. (MST) versus #12 Montana.
