GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence men's wrestling program competed at the National Dual Meet Championships throughout the day on Friday.
In the opening dual versus #5 Southern Oregon the Argos picked up a pair of ranked victories with at 133 sophomore
Blake Woolsey defeated the #5 ranked 125 wrestler, #22
Jalen Vladic defeating #17 Cole Zoller 4-1, and #21
Brady Ellison defeated #12 Braylin Ruchti 7-1.

Sawyer Hobbs would give the Argos three straight victories to bring the match within one, but following a loss at 197, freshman
Gabe Finley's tech fall at 285 was not enough as the Argos fell to #5 Southern Oregon 22-20.
In the second dual against Cornerstone University the Argos won eight of 10 matches with freshman
Boden Banta getting things started with a 16-3 victory over Jeff Bailey.

Noah Poe-Hatten, a pin from freshman
Brady Armstrong, and a 5-2 victory from #10
Ethan DeRoche to take the dual for UP 30-6.
In the final dual of the day versus #8 Embry-Riddle, the Argos split the first four matches with
Blake Woolsey defeating Jaren Kimura 10-0 and
Tristan Bremer defeated #15 Axel Esparaza 14-13 to tie the dual at seven.

Pig Hobbs put the Argos ahead with a 16-0 victory and
Aden Graves continued the momentum defeating #13 Jayden Luttrell 11-8 in sudden victory to put UP in front 15-7.
Following a loss at 174, #3
Sawyer Hobbs pinned Tauataina Tuikolongahau in 55 seconds to keep the Argos ahead 21-13, and despite a loss at 197, #10
Ethan DeRoche picked up the upset of the day defeating #2 Kenneth Copley in SV-2 to secure the Argos 24-16 victory.
The Argos will be back in action tomorrow, Jan. 11 for day two at the National Dual Meet Championships. UP will face Missouri Valley at 9:00 a.m. (CST) for the first dual of the day.
