Klepec Scores Two in Another UGF Tie

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. – The Lady Argos found a new scoring threat and gained a valuable point against Oregon Tech but couldn't avoid yet another tie, finish 2-2 in double overtime.

"It was a frustrating game. We were not clicking on all cylinders," UGF head coach Brian Clarke said. "But looking at the long trip we made, we will take the three points."

The Owls were the more threatening team throughout the match and got on the board first with a goal in the 16th minute.

The Argos only got off two shots in retaliation but one of them was an equalizing goal from midfielder Ashley Klepec. The junior's goal in the 36th minute came inside the box off a pass from sophomore Sandralee DeVille and was just her second score of the season.

Despite leveling the score, UGF continued to be on the defensive. The Owls outshot the Argos 8-3 in the second half and reclaimed the lead in the 64th minute.

Big saves from saves from UGF keeper Kyra Dorvall kept the Argonauts in the game and then Klepec struck again. This time it was a goal assisted by team captain Lauren Ozdowski in the 80th minute that evened the score.

Overtime saw UGF mostly hanging on for the tie as Dorvall saved three more shots on goal in the two extra periods, giving her nine on the day, while a shot from junior forward Jessica Watts early in the second overtime was the Argo's only shot of overtime.

The tie is the fifth of the season for UGF and brings their record to 5-3-5 (2-3-4). Their next game is on the road against Southern Oregon University at 8:30 p.m. on October 24.
