Two Hat Tricks Highlight 14-0 Argo Win

PORTLAND, Ore. – Argo soccer got backup goalkeeper Henrik Sohn a shutout and leading scorer Luis Torress and hat trick, in a 14-0 victory over Multnomah University.

The game was dominated by UGF from start to finish with the Lions getting off just two shots in the match. MU's lone shot on goal game in the first half and was saved by Sohn. The rest of play was all Argos.

The scoring started with two UGF goals in the second minute, the first from senior captain Jordan Byland and the second from another co-captain, Jon-Eric Krans. Those two scores were the beginning of four Argo goals in the first ten minutes and nine total first half goals.

By the end of the first 45 minutes Torres, a senior midfielder, already had his first hat trick of the season with goals in the 12th, 19th, and 40th minutes.

"I thought the guys stayed focused and did what they need to do," said UGF head coach Joseph Yeisley. "I'm glad that we kept our heads and kept working to improve."

The second half was much of the same with UGF adding five more to their total. A goal from Ian Ooko in the 55th minute gave the junior forward his first hat trick as an Argo.

Other goal scorers for UGF included junior Lewis Derrett, freshman Oskar Waldebrink, senior Renan Zampieri, senior Tyler Uddin, and sophomore Christopher Bisbo.

The Argos are now 11-5 (9-3) and fourth in the Cascade Collegiate Conference standings with one more match remaining in the regular season. That final match will be at Walla Walla College on October 31, at 6 p.m.
