Argos to Play Evergreen in First Round of CCC Tournament

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – It will start with Evergreen State College. That will be Argo soccer's opponent in the opening round of the Cascade Collegiate Conference Tournament. UGF enters the tournament as the no. 6 seed which pits them against the no. 3 seed Geoducks.

UGF enters the tournament with a record of 9-7 (8-5), hoping for a similar performance in the playoffs as they had last year. In 2015, the Argos entered as the tournament's 3 seed, easily defeating Warner Pacific 3-0 in the first round before winning an epic semi-final match against Corban University 2-2 (8-7) in shootouts. That win put UGF into the conference championship and sealed the team's place in the NAIA Tournament.

Once again the Argos will need a strong run in the conference playoffs to get a spot in the national tournament.

That run will start on November 4 at 9 p.m. MT, against Evergreen. When the two teams faced each other in the regular season, UGF played its worst defensive game of the year, letting up a season high of 4 goals in a 4-2 loss. The score didn't tell the whole story, however, as the Argos controlled possession for majority of the game.

The CCC Tournament will be played in Springfield, Ore., and will be hosted by Northwest Christian University.
