Shepherd started off the game strong, and led for much of the first 10 minutes. It wasn't until midway through the half when a
Jarred Burr shot gave the Argos a 13-12 lead, and they never looked back. Shepherd kept the game close for about 5 more minutes, and then UGF pulled away. The Argos led by as many as 14, and went into halftime with a 38-27 edge.

In the second half, the Argos stretched their lead to as many as 24 points. Senior forward
Issac Howard produced from both ends of the floor, posting half of his total 14 points and 8 rebounds in the second stanza. He also added 1 block and 1 assist for UGF.

Treyvon Bashir was strong defensively in his first game of the season. He had 5 of his 11 rebounds in the first half, and added two blocks for the Argos.

For the Argos:
- UGF's 3-point percentage improved from 25 percent in the first half, to 31.3 percent in the second half.
- The Argos scored an impressive 22 points off turnovers, compared to three points for Shepherd. The Thundering Herd gave up 14 turnovers in the game.
- UGF's bench was huge in the win, contributing 60 points in the game.

- Knigel Key was the leading scorer of the game, posting 20 points on 8 of 14 shooting. He also had 4 rebounds in the loss.
- DeShaun Nixon had a double-double for Shepherd, with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Nixon added 3 blocks as well.

- The Argos' 2-0 record is their first since 2014.
