PREVIEW: UP Volleyball to Open Season vs Walla Walla

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – It will be an unconventional beginning, but the first game of the 2017 Lady Argo volleyball season and the first official contest for the University of Providence athletic department since changing the school name and school colors will begin on Tuesday, August 15 at 1 p.m. Due to current work on the McLaughlin Center gym, the game will be played at Great Falls Central Catholic High School with the opponent being Walla Walla University.

While no opponent should be taken lightly, particularly in a season opener, UP's match against Walla Walla should be a warm up before the Lady Argos travel to Denver for the Johnson & Whales Tournament where they will take on a slew of tough opponents including defending NAIA Champion Hastings College.

In 2016, the Lady Argos went 14-14 (6-6) in an up-and-down year that saw them beat multiple ranked opponents but also lose a few matches they probably shouldn't have. The team should receive a boost from what the program believes could be its best recruiting class ever from this summer, but the Lady Argos will also have to replace Honorable Mention All-American hitter Madison Wilhelm.

The Wolves had a rougher go last season, compiling a record of 1-23.

Because of the location change, there will be no living streaming of the match, but live stats will be available.
