Argo Men's Basketball Claim 114-89 Victory Over Vikings on Friday

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Six Argos netted double-digit point totals as Argo men's basketball claimed a 114-89 victory over the University of Alberta – Augustana Vikings on Friday night.
 
The Argos (8-2) produced a huge 67-45 opening period to eventually seal the win. Jacob Wetzel netted a team-high 19 points, followed closely by Brandon Cotton with 18 points. D'shea Williams collected a game-high 14 boards in the win, while narrowly missing a double-double with nine points.
 
The Argos started off slow as they Vikings took the early lead outscoring the Argos 12-5 a little over three minutes in. Over the next five minutes of clock, the Argos would chisel away the Vikings lead to eventually tie things up at 23 all. A layup from JF Daho would give the Argos their first lead since a 5-3 at the 19:15 minute mark, 25-23. The Argos wouldn't relinquish their advantage for the remainder of the night. The Argos went on a 21-12 run to take a double-digit lead, 46-35. Slightly over two minutes later the Argos pushed their lead to a 20-point advantage, 57-37. Providence would maintain their lead as they would take a 23-point lead into the locker room, 68-45.
 
The Argos maintained their momentum into the final 20 minutes as they held a 30-point lead at the 15-minute mark following a 14-7 run, 82-52. The Vikings would eventually bring things back under 30 with 10 minutes to go, 94-65. The Vikings attempted a rally in the final 10 minutes of the game, but the Argos were able to seal the 114-89 victory,

The Argos will head to Phoenix for the Cactus Classic on the campus of Chandler-Gilbert Community College on December 14-18.
