GREAT FALLS, Mont. – No. 13 Argo women's basketball rolled past the University of Alberta – Augustana Vikings (10-3) on Friday, 84-43.
The Argos (8-2) were led by
Parker Esary who tied for a game-high 14 points in the win. She also collected a double-double with 11 boards.
Alicia Oatis and
Elly Teske also netted double-digits for the Argos with 10 points each, while Oatis narrowly missed a double-double with 9 rebounds.
The Argos got off to a fast start and never took their foot off the pedal as they never trailed for the entire 40 minutes. Providence scored 12 unanswered to take the early advantage. The Vikings connected on a layup, but the Argos tallied nine more to lead 21-2. The Vikings outscored the Argos 7-2 to close out the period with the Argos up by 14, 23-9. The Argos maintained their double-digit lead in the second as they outscored the Vikings, 17-12, to push their lead to 19 at the break, 40-21. The Argos defense was solid in the first 20 minutes as they held the Vikings to 21 percent from the field and 11 percent from beyond the arc.
The Argos maintained the momentum to open the third as they continued to pour it on surpassing the 20-point mark and eventually closing out the third period with a 31-point lead, 60-29. The final period proved to be much of the same as the Argos continued to dominate the Vikings as they would eventually close out the 41-point victory, 84-43. The game was a Every Argo that set foot on the court netted a basket in the victory.
