GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Argo men's soccer picked up their fourth win on the season as they claimed a 4-1 victory over the Warner Pacific Knights on Friday.
The Argos were more efficient on the day as both teams had 11 shots, but the Argos were able to score on four of them to the Knights one. Providence led in corner kicks during the matchup as they garnered six and Warner Pacific had two.
Adrian Gomez put the Argos on top early as he received a long pass from
Fernando Gutierrez to beat the goalie one on one and put the Argos up 1-0 in the 7
th minute.
The Argos added some insurance in the 14
th minute courtesy of
George Holloway who received a ball from bicycle kick by
Alex Williams to score from six yards out, 2-0.
The Argos maintained their two-goal advantage into the break.
Holloway scored his second goal of the contest following halftime as he scored on a ball from
Gudmundur Gudmundsson after being deflected off the post to give the Argos a 3-0 advantage.
The Knights prevented a shutout in the 52
nd minute as they were able to chip one over the keeper in a one on one to net their first goal on the match, 3-1.
The Argos scored their final goal of the match in the 58
th minute as Gudmundsson received a ball from midfield by
Alex Williams to score from 18 yards out and push the Argos' lead back to three, 4-1.
The Argos would carry their three-point advantage until the buzzer to earn the 4-1 victory.
