GREAT FALLS, Mont. – No. 22 Argo men's basketball (14-6, 5-4) claimed a 79-78 victory over the MSU-Northern Lights (12-9, 4-5) on Thursday night.
Jalen Shepard collected a double-double as he netted 21 points and grabbed 10 boards in the contest.

Brandon Cotton joined Shepard in double-digits with 18 and 15 points, respectively. JF Daho did work in the post for the Argos as well, tallying eight rebounds, while also adding eight points in the win.
Kavon Bey led the Lights with 16 points, followed by Caulin Bakalarski and Adam Huse also scored in the double-digits with 14 apiece.
The Argos would outscore the Lights 9-8 during the opening five minutes of the game. The two squads traded field goals to a 11-10 Argo lead. However, MSU-Northern tallied nine unanswered points to take an eight-point lead at the 11:32-minute mark. The Argos responded with a 6-0 run of their own to cut the deficit to two before bringing things to a 23-23 tie after a 6-4 run. Two more ties at 29 and 31 would keep things even, but a 10-6 MSUN run would close out the half with a four-point Lights lead, 41-37.
The Lights opened the period on a 5-2 lead to extend their lead to seven, but the Argos would respond with a 6-0 run of their own to cut the lead to one, 46-45. The Argos would eventually tie things up at the 11:45-minute mark following a three from Shepard. Starr would knock down a three of his own to give the Argos their first lead in over 12 minutes of game time, 56-53. The Argos and Lights would trade runs through five ties in route to a 72-72 game with two minutes remaining. The Argos went on a 5-2 run to lead by three with 30 seconds on the clock. The Lights would cut it down to one, but two Shepard free throws would put the Argos back up by three at the 17-second mark. The Lights would net a layup with three seconds to go, but it wasn't enough as the Argos would hold on for the 79-78 victory.
