Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Argos Defeat Northern Lights in 4

Great Falls, Mont. – The University of Providence women's volleyball team overcame a slow start to defeat Montana State – Northern in four sets (21-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-12).

Playing without their kill-leader Kelsey Shaver who was out with a back injury, the Argos adjusted with an entirely new lineup. Though they dropped the first set, head coach Arunas Duda stuck with the adjustments.

"It was a brand new lineup, so I wanted to give them time to work through some things," he said. "It took time to gel. The more we did I thought they turned it on pretty well."

Tyna William led the Argos with 18 kills. Adysen Burns and Averi Dyer had 10 and 8 kills respectively. Cydney-Finberg Roberts recorded 45 assists. Sacha Legros led the Argos with 42 digs. Burns also had 22 digs, while Dyer had 13.

"We wanted to get our middles involved," Duda said. "When we set Tyna high enough she reaches over the top of the block really well. It was one of those things where it worked early and we just kept trying to push it."

"Sacha in her first game as a libero did an excellent job," he said. "I also want to credit Averi for stepping into a role that she hasn't done all season as a hitter. I thought she stepped up and did a really nice job as well. Finn distributed the job well. Everybody got on the board and everyone got going."

The Argos have a very critical match on Saturday, when they face their rival Carroll who is in the midst of a 6-game winning streak.

"We know they're going to be a very good opponent coming in and we know that we have to be better than we were tonight," Duda said. "They're going to bring a lot of energy and we just have to match that and outlast them."
