Argos Get 1st Win in Arizona

Bailey Cartwright grabs 18 rebounds

CHANDLER, Az- University of Providence hit the court in day number two of the Frontier Classic and they hit it hard shooting 64% from the field in the first half compared to Benedictine's 34%.  The 46-33 halftime lead was also helped with shooting behind the three-point line as Argos went 8/13 or 61%.

In the second half, the hot shooting continued for the Argos but crashed to 12% for Benedictine in the third period. "That's the game of basketball," said Benedictine Red Hawks head coach Brian Hutchins.

The University of Providence had an amazing second half led by Emilee Maldonado with 12 points who also added 4 more assists on the day getting her closer to the all time assist leader of the University of Providence. Bailey Cartwright set a season high 18 rebounds and scored 9 points in the win.

"We played hard and were ready to battle against a tough team, knowing that the Red Hawks hadn't lost a game this season gave us some inspirations," Coach Bill Himmelberg commented after the contest. "I really liked our defense today. We came together to slow them down."

The Argos will have their third game of the week in Arizona on Saturday, giving them a one-day rest to prepare for Thomas Moore University, a team that is 9-2 on the season from the Mid-South Conference.
