HELENA, Mont. – The No. 23 University of Providence women's basketball team suffered its 10
th Frontier Conference defeat on Saturday evening as the Argos fell to the No. 8 Carroll Saints in the PE Center.
Providence drops to 17-11 on the season and 6-10 in Frontier Conference play, while the Saints garnered their 20
th win on the season to improve to 20-7 and 12-4 in league play.
Parker Esary led the Argos offensively with 14 points, while
Emilee Maldonado joined her in double-digits with 12 points. Esary added four boards, while Maldonado also tallied four boards and three assists. Defensively,
Reed Hazard led the Argos with a team-high six boards, while
Kenedy Cartwright snagged two steals.
Danielle Wagner knocked down a game-high 19 points for the Saints. Hannah Dean tallied a double-double during the win, scoring 13 points and grabbing 10 boards for the Saints.
The Argos never had the advantage throughout the game, but a three from Maldonado at the 2:16-minute mark of the first quarter put the Argos within two, 13-11, before finishing the first 10 minutes with a four-point deficit, 15-11.
Carroll ran the score up in the second quarter, taking a 23-point lead into intermission. The Argos would match the Saints 20-point third period, but they couldn't quite get the shots to fall in the final period as Carroll took the 77-47 victory.

The Argos return home next weekend as they host the Western Bulldogs on Friday, February 22 before taking on the Lewis-Clark Warriors on Saturday, February 23 for Senior Night. Tip-off for both games is set for 5:30 p.m.
