HAVRE, Mont. – Argo men's basketball's second-half comeback fell short following a 50-37 halftime deficit as the Argos dropped their quarterfinal matchup against the MSU-Northern Lights 101-93 on Wednesday evening.

The Argos fall to 18-12 during the 2018-19 campaign, while the Lights improve to 18-13 on the season.

Four Argos netted double-digit point totals with Brandon Cotton dropped a game-high 27 points. Jalen Shepard, Austin Starr, and D'shea Williams joined Cotton with 18, 16, and 13 points, respectively. Williams led the Argos in the post, earning a double-double with 10 boards.

The Lights also had four players in double-digits with Adam Huse and Mascio McCadney both producing a team-high 26 points apiece. Kavon Bay and Justin Dunsmore netted 16 and 15 points, respectively.

The Argos struck first, 2-0, but the Lights took a slight lead as they outscored the Argos 10-4 for a four-point lead through the first five minutes of play. The Lights eventually took a double-digit lead at the 13:44-minute mark following an 8-2 run, 18-8. The Lights would lead by as much as 17, 39-22, however the Argos would eventually cut the deficit down to 13 to send things into the break, 50-37.

The Argos brought things back within single-digits over the first three minutes of play, 59-50, but the Lights would put things back over 10, 60-50, at the 16:21-minute mark. The Lights maintained their double-digit lead over the following 10 minutes of clock until the Argos cut things back to nine with a little less than seven minutes to play, 82-73. A 17-12 run brought things to closest since the 15:34-minute mark of the first half, 94-90, with 46 seconds to play. 10 seconds later the Argos cut the deficit to three, but that was as close as they would get as the Lights closed the game out with four unanswered points to take the 101-93 victory.
