GREAT FALLS, Mont. – A huge second-half performance powered the No. 25 Argos to an 89-76 victory over Montana Tech on Saturday evening.
The Argos got back into the win column after falling twice during the previous two meetings in Butte against the Orediggers.
Four Argos scored in double-digits against Tech.
Austin Starr dropped a game-high 27 points, while
Jaxen Hashley joined him in the twenties with 21 points. Hashley tallied a double-double, adding 13 boards in the contest.
Brandon Cotton and
Jalen Shepard followed with 19 and 10 points, respectively.
Troy Owens Jr. led the way for the Orediggers as he tallied a team-high 21 points. Tech's leading scorer, Taylor England, netted 11 points, while Dylan Pannabecker knocked down 10 points.
The first half was a back-and-forth battle as the Orediggers held a three-point advantage with 54 seconds remaining in the first half. Hashley netted a clutch three at the 41-second mark to tie up the contest at the break, 39-39.
The game would even-up four times through the first 11 minutes of the second period, 63-63. The Argos would then break things loose as they tallied 14 unanswered points to take a 77-63 lead with five minutes to go in the contest. The Orediggers cut the deficit down to nine, but the Argos would eventually take the 13-point victory, 89-76.

The Argos will travel for their next two contests as they take on the Rocky Mountain Battlin' Bears on February 14 and the Carroll Saints on February 16. Tip-off for both contests is set for 7:30 p.m.
