Maldonado Earns NAIA Second Team, Esary Recognized as Honorable Mention

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) office named Emilee Maldonado as Second Team All-American and Parker Esary as an Honorable Mention All-
American on Thursday.
 
Maldonado becomes the third Argo in school history to receive second team honors. Following Erin Legel and Stephanie McDonagh.
 
The NAIA honor adds to list of honors for the sophomore guard. She was named to the Frontier Conference First Team during her sophomore campaign, after earning Frontier Conference Honorable Mention as a freshman. She was also named Frontier Conference Player of the Week twice during the Argos 2018-19 campaign.
 
Maldonado earns NAIA honors for the first time in her career as an Argo. She finished second in the Frontier Conference in total points with 515 and scoring per game, averaging 16.09 points per contest this season, only behind the NAIA Player of the Year in Montana Western's Brianna King. Maldonado also led the conference in total assists with 163 and assists per game, averaging 5.09 during the 2018-19 season.
 
She scored in double-digits in 26 of the Argos' 32 games this season, reaching 20 or more points 10 times, capped by a career-high 31 points against the Rocky Mountain College Battlin' Bears.
 
Esary's NAIA accolade marks her second straight honorable mention nod for the sophomore post.
 
Esary received honorable mention accolades for the second-straight year, having earned them as a freshman last season. Esary led the Frontier Conference in total rebounds with 305, rebounds per game averaging 9.84, and offensive rebounds per game with 4.71 per contest. She also led the Frontier Conference in double-doubles as she garnered an incredible 15 double-doubles on the season. Parker holds the top three spots for most rebounds in a game this season, pulling down a career-high 18, 17, and 16 in three different contests.
