Box Score Klamath Falls, Ore. - In a matchup between two undefeated conference foes, the Providence men's soccer team suffered their first conference loss of the season after a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Oregon Tech Friday afternoon.
The game was neck and neck throughout the entire match. No one scored a goal until the 86th minute, when after a series of fouls, Cade Roske found the back of the net off an assist from John Sarna. Sarna scored again in the 90th minute to solidify the victory.
The Argos outshot the Owls 18-7. They also had seven corner kicks compared to the Owls one.
"It was a good game," head coach Matt Ball said. "It was two teams with different styles and we weren't clinical enough to finish it."
The loss marks the first conference loss for Providence (2-1, 4-1-1). Oregon Tech (2-0, 5-0-2) remains tied for first in the conference.
Providence returns to action Sunday in a road match against Southern Oregon at 12:30 p.m.
"Thankfully we have a day off so we can let the emotions settle down a bit," Ball said. "We didn't drive all this way to leave without a result."
