Box Score BUTTE, Mont. – Four Argos scored in double digits to propel the University of Providence women's basketball team to a tight 74-71 victory on the road Thursday evening against Montana Tech.
Bailey Cartwright led the way with 19 points and 9 rebounds.
Jenna Randich and
Kenedy Cartwright both added 16 points, while
Emilee Maldonado scored 15 points and a team-high four assists.
"I'm really glad we won," head coach
Bill Himmelberg said. "Montana Tech is a really tough team. Carly does a great job with her squad and tonight they came to compete. In the second half they really hit the offensive boards hard. They gave us everything could handle tonight. I'm glad our girls could execute at the end and finish."
Mesa Williams led the way for Montana Tech with 22 points. Kaylee Zard scored 19 points and 10 rebounds for the Orediggers.
The win propels the Argos (11-6, 2-3) over the Orediggers (11-6, 1-4) in the
Frontier Conference standings. The Argos will have a chance to get back to .500 in the conference when they take on Lewis-Clark State on the road Saturday at 2 p.m.
"LC is really good," Himmelberg said. "They're balanced all over. We're going to have to defend and rebound a lot better than we did tonight."
