Argo Volleyball Releases Season Schedule

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The Frontier Conference officially announced the schedule for the 2020-21 volleyball season Thursday morning.

All six conference teams will begin play Jan. 29. The University of Providence volleyball team will begin their season with a road match against Carroll. Their first home game will be Feb. 5 against Rocky Mountain College.

"We're excited we get to play," head coach Arunas Duda said. "We just want our kids back on the court. We want to be coaching, doing what we love to do. We're happy that we're fortunate enough to have a conference in Montana where we're a little bit protected from the outside."

In an effort to limit travel, all Frontier Conference games will take place as a weekend double-header. The first game will take place Friday night with a second game against the same opponent taking place Saturday morning. All teams will play each conference team four times throughout the course of the season for a total of 20 games, an increase up from 12 conference games played in a normal year.

"It will be very different," Duda said. "There's going to have to be a lot of adjustments from the first night to the second day. We're just going to have to see how our team adjusts on the fly. With not a lot of time to prepare, it's going to be interesting. We have a pretty young group, so our learning curve is going to have to be pretty quick."

The Frontier Conference Tournament will take place April 6-10. The first round of the NAIA National Tournament will take place April 17, and the 32-team field will plan to kick off in Sioux City, Iowa on April 27.

The Argos hope to repeat the success they had last season. The team finished 25-8 (9-3 in conference) before winning the Frontier Conference Tournament and earning a bid to the National Tournament. They were eliminated in a one-set tiebreak by Oklahoma City University after going 1-2 in pool play.
