Argos Topple Skylights in Regular Season Finale

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – The University of Providence women's basketball team ended the season on a bang, defeating Montana-State Northern 82-55 Saturday night.

Four Argos scored over 17 points, led by Emilee Maldonado, who finished just short of a double-double with 22 points and 9 assists. Bailey Cartwright finished with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 blocks, Jenna Randich had 18 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists and Parker Esary scored 17 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.

As a team the Argos had 21 assists while Northern mustered 6. Kenya Lorton led the Skylights with 15 points while Peyton Kehr added 13.

"I thought our girls played well," head coach Bill Himmelberg said. "We moved the ball extremely well tonight."

The game also served as Senior Night for Bailey Cartwright and Jenna Randich.

"I was excited that both of our seniors came out and played a good game tonight." Himmelberg said. "It was a special night for them. Tonight they came out and both played really well and had big games for us. For them, it was a great experience and it was a nice way to wrap up their career."

The Argos will end the season at 18-12 and an even 9-9 in conference. They'll finish 5th in the Frontier Conference. They will open the Frontier Conference Tournament against #4 Rocky Mountain (19-10, 10-8) in Billings on Wednesday, March. 4 at 7 p.m.

"We're peaking and getting better and better every game," Himmelberg said. "We just need to keep growing and progressing. Everybody understands that.We have to go win that first one on the road. It's going to be tough. We like our matchups. We like what's coming. We'll see what we can do.
