GREAT FALLS, Mont.- The #9 University of Providence volleyball team topped Montana Western in three sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-23) Friday evening. The win marks the team's ninth straight win on the season.
"I thought we approached the game really well," head coach
Arunas Duda said. "We executed our game plan really well in the first two sets. The third set, Montana Western got a little bit more comfortable with what we're doing. I'm proud of our girls being able to close it out and finish in three."
Cydney Finberg-Roberts had another brilliant game, recording 31 assists on the evening.
Jenna Thorne led the attack with 12 kills for the Argos (16-2, 3-0), while
Bailey Christensen and
Sadie Lott both notched eight.
Sacha Legros led the team defensively with 24 digs.
Zoe Naugle and
Mariah Jardine were a force at the net as well, recording seven and six blocks, respectively.
"We wanted to challenge some of their blockers on the other side," Duda said. "Western is a pretty good blocking team. Part of the intentional game plan was to move the ball around and try to spread it around evenly. I thought we did a pretty decent job of that."
Kaitlyn White led the attack for the Bulldogs (7-7, 0-2) with eight kills. Abbey Schwager led the team with 12 assists, while Kelsey Goddard recorded 23 digs.
After two straight games at home, the Argos will hit the road again next Wednesday, when they'll try to pick up their tenth win of the season against Carroll College. First serve will take place at 7:00 p.m.
