Argos Move Up in NAIA National Rankings

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The University of Providence volleyball moved up one spot in the NAIA National Rankings on Wednesday, coming in at #8. The current ranking is the highest National Ranking the team has received in program history.

"We're definitely excited," head coach Arunas Duda said. "The girls pulled out a tough one this last week. Credit to them, that's a match they easily could have gone in and gotten skunked. I'm really pleased with the overall work so far. I'm excited to be in the Top 8 in the country."

The Argos (19-2, 6-0), are coming off a massive five-set victory over #17 Montana Tech, giving the team their 12th win in a row. The team currently has a 6-1 record against teams ranked in the Top 25, and are 7-2 if you include teams that are receiving votes. Duda believes the difficult schedule that the team had to grind through in the preseason has paid off during this current winning streak.

"It's been great to see a lot of those ranked teams," he said. "I know we haven't seen them in awhile, but they forced us to raise our level of play. During that Tech match we certainly raised our level once again. I was really pleased with our preseason performance and continuing to not slide during conference. The focus and mindset that the girls approach every match with so far has been outstanding."

The ranking adds a target to the back of the team that hasn't lost since Sept. 10. The squad however, hasn't changed a thing.

"We just have to continue to do what we do," Duda said. "We prepare the same way. We keep trying to fix things every week in practice. We're banking on our seniors and our leaders to carry the way during matches."

The Argos will look to add to their winning streak tonight against Montana State-Northern in Havre, Mont. First-serve will take place at 7:00 p.m.
