Esary, Maldonado Lead Argos Past Saints

GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Parker Esary and Emilee Maldonado had a dominant fourth quarter as the University of Providence women's basketball defeated Our Lady of the Lake Friday night in Great Falls. The duo scored 21 of the team's 27 points in the final quarter – including the team's last 17 points – as the Argos (9-2) pulled away from the Saints (1-6).

"We have two special players in those two," head coach Bill Himmelberg said. "When you need something to happen, they deliver. You can't ask for anything more than what those two can give you. I'm glad they can get us a basket when we need it. Whatever we need them to do they seem to be able to do it."

Maldonado finished with 28 points, eight assists and six rebounds while Esary recorded 24 points and nine rebounds. Reed Hazard added 15 points and six boards while Brooklyn Harn scored nine points. As a team, the Argos shot 53.4% from beyond the arc, going 7 of 13.

Natalia Treveno led the way for the Saints, scoring 18 points and dishing out seven assists. Keviona Barber added 16 points for her squad.

The win marks the final game for the squad before Frontier Conference opponents appear on the schedule. The Argos are currently 9-2 on the season, with only three of those wins appearing on the team's home floor. The coaching staff believes the constant road trips will help prepare the team for conference play, which will begin Dec. 2 in the McLaughlin Center against Rocky Mountain College.

"We're feeling really good about where we're at," Himmelberg said. "We're definitely one of the better squads out there right now. We still have a lot of room for improvement and things that we can get better on. I like where we sit right now."
