Short-Handed Argos Fall to Blue Hawks

BILLINGS, Mont. – A short-handed University of Providence men's basketball team fell to Dickinson State 80-62 Wednesday afternoon in Billings, Mont.

Playing with only nine players, the Argos (9-5, 1-1) put up a valiant first-half effort, trailing to the Blue Hawks (1-11, 0-1) 39-35 at the break. The lack of depth caught up to the team in the second half, as Dickinson State outscored the team 41-27 in the second half to secure the victory.

Three players scored in double-digits for the squad, led by a 20-point performance from Marcus Stephens. Elijah Oliver added 13 points while Dawson Fowler added 10 points. JF Daho recorded six points and a team-high eight rebounds.

Bryce Knox led the Blue Hawks with 22 points while John Evans added 13. Cobe Begger added 11 for the team.

The team will have a little over a week before they play their next game. The squad will host Montana Western at 7:00 p.m. on Jan. 6 in the McLaughlin Center for Military Appreciation Night.
