Argo Comeback Attempt Falls Short Against Lights

HAVRE, Mont. – The University of Providence men's basketball team fell to MSU-Northern 73-65 Saturday afternoon at the Armory Gymnasium.

Down by 15 points in the second half, the Argos (7-3, 1-1) stormed back to make it 51-47 with  10:01 left in the game. The Lights (8-2, 1-1) responded with their own 14-4 run to stretch their lead back to double-digits. The Argos made a few late pushes, but the Lights had timely stops that stifled any comeback attempt.

"They played really good defense, give them a ton of credit," head coach Steve Keller said. "They guarded us pretty well. I was happy with our kids that they didn't lay down. They competed and got back in the game with a chance to win. They made some big threes and had some timely blocks. They were better than us tonight."

Rashee Stocks led the team in scoring with 17 points on the night. Dawson Fowler was a rebound short of a double-double, finishing with 14 points and nine rebounds. Marcus Stephens also finished with 14 points for the squad.

Mascio McCadney led the Lights with 20 points. Jesse Keltner notched a double-double, finishing with 14 points and 13 boards. David Harris also chipped in 14 points for the Lights.

The Argos will be off for two weeks before taking the court again. They'll take on Antelope Valley on Dec. 17 in the first game of the Cactus Classic in Phoenix, Ariz.

"We're going to get back and work on everything," Keller said. "We'll take some time off and give them some rest. We'll be ready to go."
