GREAT FALLS, Mont. –
Megan Haugen and
Bri Wikert were both recognized as
Honorable Mention All-Conference by the Cascade Collegiate Conference on Tuesday.
"It's a great recognition for those two players who had a very strong season for us," head coach
Brian Clarke said. "They're two great players with great tenacity and heart and we're really proud of them."
In her first season as an Argo after transferring from Columbia Basin College, Haugen had a stellar season. The midfielder was all over the field for the Argos, stifling oppossing teams' opportunities with relative ease.
"Megan brings a lot of athleticism, tenacity and just an overall knack for the game," Clarke said. "She has a great work ethic. She gets straight to business and get her done attitude."
This is the
second straight season that Wikert has been named Honorable Mention All-Conference. The senior attempted four shots this year, two of which were on goal.
"Bri has brought so much to our program, not just this year, but throughout her whole career," Clarke said. "Her leadership on the field and her vision were critical for us. She's just smooth on the ball. She's a quiet player but without her we wouldn't have had the opportunities that we created in games. She's a phenomenal person and player."
Though Wikert will leave the program due to graduation, the coaching staff is excited for the opportunity to further develop around Haugen next season.
"Megan coming back gives us excitement and something to build off of for next year," Clarke said. "It's a great way to send Brie off after an excellent career here at UP. I'm really happy for those two."
