BUTTE, Mont. – The University of Providence golf team opened their season Monday at the Montana Tech Invitational at the Butte Country Club in Butte, Mont.
After the first two rounds, the men's team is currently in 5
th place with a score of 629. The team is 21 strokes behind Dickinson State (608) and 25 strokes behind Carroll College (604). Rocky Mountain College has the lead at 578, followed closely by Montana Tech (582).
The women's team only has three players, so they are not eligible for a team score.
Individually,
Ben Kaul led the Argos on the men's side, shooting a 73 in the first round and a 77 in the second. He ended 10 shots over par, good for a tie at 13
th place with Malachi Stewart of Carroll.
Trenton Olson shot an 80 in the first round, but improved five strokes to end up in 22
nd.
Colton Stodghill finished right behind him at 23
rd, shooting a combined 18 over par between the two rounds.
Josh Warp (+26) is currently in 32
nd place, while
Connor Mora (+28) is right behind him at 33
rd.
Jake Henderson (+29) is in 35
th place, while
JP Briney (+34) is right behind him at 36
th.
Kieler Jones led the way for the women, shooting a 92 (21) for a three-way tie for 18
th.
Kate Murack shot a 103, good for 27
th, while
M'Kenzie Whiteman is tied for 30
th with a 109.
