BUTTE, Mont. –
Ben Kaul had an astounding third round to climb up the leaderboard on Tuesday, finishing tied for 5
th place at the Montana Tech Invitational.
Kaul shot a 68 in the final round, tied for the third best score on the course during the event, to move up from 13
th place to 5
th place. He ended up with a total of eight strokes above par, cutting two strokes off his score of 10 over between the two rounds yesterday.
Trenton Olson finished tied for 21
st, shooting 22 over while
Colton Stodghill was right behind him at 23 over.
Connor Mora (+32) tied for 29
th,
Josh Warp (+42) finished 33
rd,
Jake Henderson (+44) finished right behind him at 34
th, while
JP Briney (+57) finished 37
th.
As a team the Argos finished 5
th out of six teams, recording a team score of 923. They finished 12 strokes behind Dickinson State (911) and 22 strokes behind third-place Carroll College (901). Rocky Mountain College won the event with a score 854, with Montana Tech finishing second at 870.
On the women's side,
Kielar Jones shot a 93 in the second round. She finished the two-day event 43 strokes over par, good for 19
th place.
Kate Murack (+58) finished 28
th, while
M'Kenzie Whiteman (+73) finished 30
th. Because the women only have three members, they are not eligible for a team score.
The Argos will compete next Monday at the Argo Invitational at the Meadow Lark Country Club in Great Falls, Mont.
