GREAT FALLS, Mont. – Kielar Jones and Ben Kaul finished in the top ten after the first day of the Argo Invitational Monday afternoon. Jones is currently tied for eighth place on the women's side, while Kaul is tied for 10th on the men's.

As a team, the University of Providence men's golf team is currently in third place. The Argos have a team score of 635 between the two rounds, nine strokes ahead of Carroll College (644). Rocky Mountain College is currently in the lead at 574, with Montana Tech in second at 583.

"I like where we're at," head coach Spencer Williams said. "We started out pretty rough. I think the wind bothered us a little bit, but we managed to hold on to that third spot. Hopefully we can maintain that tomorrow."

On the women's side, Kielar Jones is in the top ten after shooting an 89 (+17), which has her tied for eighth with Kaitlyn Fleming of Rocky Mountain College. Kate Murack is tied for 22nd after shooting a 107 (+35). Because the women don't have enough eligible golfers, they don't qualify for a team score.

"Kielar broke into the top ten for the first time in her career," Williams said. "She just needs to clean up the big numbers and the mistakes that lead to a big number and she'll be able to maintain that."

Through two rounds, Ben Kaul is leading the men's side for the Argos, currently sitting tied for 10th with Haydn Driver of Rocky Mountain College. Kaul shot par through the first round, but ended eight over in the second round to end up at 152 (+8). Connor Mora is sitting at 14th place with a score of 158 (+14), with Colton Stodghill shooting a 159 (+15) to end up right behind him tied for 15th.

"We have the potential to get a couple guys in the top ten, which is our goal individually," Williams said. "Each of those guys had a couple of holes get away from them. We just slowly need to go at it, one stroke at a time."

Jake Henderson is notched in a three-way tie at 21st after shooting a 166 (+22), while Josh Warp is sitting at 25th with a score of 170 (+26). Trenton Olson is right behind him at 26th with a 172 (+28) followed by Trey Sharp at 27th with 176 (+32). Matt Hansen is in 29th (+43), JP Briney is 33rd (+59) while Trey Wasson is 34th (+73).

The final round will begin tomorrow at 9:00 a.m. at Meadow Lark Country Club in Great Falls, Mont.
