Men's basketball travels to familiar place this weekend

Argos to play Walla Walla & LC State in Lewiston, Idaho

Great Falls, Mont. - The first road trip of the season starts Friday for the University of Providence men's basketball team as the Argos travel to Lewiston, Idaho to play in a mini-tournament. Providence will face Walla Walla (Wash.) and host Lewis-Clark State.  

The Argos are 2-0 after season opening victories over Portland Bible College and Southern Alberta Institute of Technology at home. The competition ramps up for UP beginning Friday taking on Walla Walla. The Wolves are 0-1 after opening the season with an 81-69 loss to Simpson University (Calif.). Walla Walla has also played to exhibitions at Idaho and Idaho State of the Big Sky Conference.  

Saturday, the Argos take on former Frontier Conference opponent LC State. The Warriors are 2-1 including a 10-point victory over Rocky Mountain College. Davien Brown and Keegan Crosby are each averaging 13 points per game.  

Sam Vining leads the Argos with 15 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. Jake Olsen (14.5) and Kenny Curtis (11.5) also score in double figures for Providence. In addition, Vining is shooting 8-15 from three with Curtis 5-6. Providence also shares the ball well, averaging 22.5 assists per contest.  

Head Coach Steve Keller says this will be a good weekend for the team to continue to gel, "First road trip of the season. First road trip for a lot of our guys. We are looking forward to playing in front of a good crowd, (especially against LC State), and I am anxious to see how our new guys react to adversity."
