GREAT FALLS, Mont. - The University of Providence women take to the road this weekend, traveling to Kirkland, Washington for the Northwest Classic hosted by Northwest University. The Argos will play two games on Friday and Saturday.
Friday, the ladies will face Haskell Indian Nations College (Kan.). Haskell is 3-6 on the season overall under second year head coach Adam Strom. The Fightin' Indians are coming off a 71-64 win over McPhearson College last Saturday.
The Argos then face host Northwest (Wash.) on Saturday. The Eagles are 1-1 and led by Grace Harder who averages 10.5 points per game. Providence beat the Eagles last season 64-40 and has won all previous six meetings.
UP is led by senior Brooklyn Harn who is averaging 13.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per night with freshman McKenna Reggear averaging a double-double of 10.8 points and 10.5 rebounds. The Argos are balanced offensively with six players averaging more than 6.3 points per game. So far this season, Providence is outrebounding its opponents by a 49.5 to 31.3 margin but have committed 15 more turnovers than its opposition.
Providence (4-1) is coming off a 71-43 exhibition loss at the University of Montana Tuesday and Head Coach Bill Himmelberg says these games this weekend are big ones, "These are two counters for us. It's going to be a tough environment over there (in Washington.) Northwest is generally pretty good in their place, so we are going to have to play well. Haskell is always good. It will be two interesting games for us to see exactly where we are at. The big thing is we will continue to get better."
Fans will be able to watch the games at 6:30 PM Friday, 6 PM Saturday at www.upargos.com.
