BUTTE, Mont. - Kenny Curtis scored 27 points on 9-15 shooting, Drayton Caoile added 20 points while shooting 8-13 from the floor and the University of Providence built a 22-point lead in beating Dickinson State (N.D.) 94-84 Friday afternoon at the Tech Classic in Butte.
Curtis (6-6) and Caoile (4-4) combined to hit all 10 of their three-point attempts as the Argos built a fifteen-point halftime lead and held off the Blue Hawks late to improve to 4-1 on the season. Curtis hit a buzzer beater from just inside midcourt to give the Argos a 47-32 lead. Curtis scored 21 of his points in the first half, while Caoile scored all of his in the final 20 minutes. Eric Milner (15) and Jake Olsen (10) also scored in double figures for Providence which shot 49.2 % from the field for the game. Olsen just missed a double-double grabbing nine rebounds.
DSU shot 48.5% for the game, led by Kose Egbule and Gus Wright, who had 16 points each. Three others scored in double figures for the Blue Hawks who outrebounded the Argos 40-30 including a 13-3 advantage on the offensive glass. One difference in the game came at the free throw line where UP shot 13-16 while Dickinson was just 8-20.
Head Coach Steve Keller says Curtis and Caoile had great games, "They were huge from the three. Great game by both. Career high for Dray. We played well as a team offensively."
