GREAT FALLS, Mont. - It is Thanksgiving Weekend, and the University of Providence men's basketball team is looking to make it a road trip feast as the Argos play at the College of Idaho against the fourth-ranked Yotes and Eastern Oregon.
The Argos are 5-1 overall and won two straight last weekend at Butte in the Tech Classic over Dickinson State (N.D.) and Lewis-Clark State (Idaho). Kenny Curtis was named the Erck Hotels/Frontier Conference Player of the Week after averaging 26.5 points along with shooting 10-17 from the three-point line in the two victories. The College of Idaho is ranked fourth in the NAIA Top 25 coaches' poll and is led by Johnny Radford at 15.5 points per game. Three others also average double figures for the 3-1 Yotes. The lone loss for the College of Idaho is an 82-78 decision to top ranked Arizona Christian, a team Providence will face in mid-December.
The Yotes are coached by Colby Blaine, a former assistant for Providence coach Steve Keller at Montana Western. "We are very excited to see where we are at as we play one of the best teams in the country," says Keller, "Coach Blaine was my assistant at Montana Western and has developed into one of the best young coaches in the country. I knew Colby was going to be very successful and he has proven that year after year.
"Eastern Oregon is a very good team led by Arlee, Montana point guard Phillip Malatare. We had a great weekend in Butte, and we look to carry that momentum this weekend."
