Providence men outscored by 20 in second half to fall at Rocky

Argos fall to 1-1 in Frontier Conference

BILLINGS, Mont. - Maxim Stephens and Nick Hart combined for 26 second half points to lead Rocky Mountain College past the University of Providence 90-72 Saturday in Frontier Conference action in Billings.  

The Argos led by as much as seven and let by two at the half thanks to 13 points from Sam Vining and 11 from Jake Olsen. Providence shot 47.5 percent from the field in the first 20 minutes. Rocky would answer quickly in the second half, outscoring the Argos 55-35, taking the lead on a Beau Santisteven free throw with 16:04 remaining and keeping up the pressure in getting the victory.  

After combining for 24 points in the first half, Vining and Olsen were held to just four points in the second half. Vining finished with 15 points and five rebounds, Olsen ended with 13 points and four boards. Eric Milner paced the Argos with 21 points on 8-15 from the field. Kenny Curtis and Caleb Currington each added nine points. 

Stephens led the Battlin' Bears with 21, Hart added 16 points and 11 rebounds while Santisteven (12), Kael Robinson (11) and Kace Kitchel (11) also scored in double figures for Rocky which sees its record improve to 6-3 overall, 1-1 in the Frontier.  

Providence falls to 6-4 on the season and is also 1-1 in league play. The Argos return to action Wednesday with an exhibition game against MSU-Billings on the road. The game will be available to stream beginning at 7 PM at www.upargos.com.
