BOISE, Idaho –The Frontier Conference Championships Tournament, which was originally scheduled to begin on Monday, April 11, began a day earlier than expected due to a last-minute decision to battle the inclement weather.

The tournament, which is hosted by the Banbury Golf Course in Eagle, Idaho, was in danger of being canceled after Sunday's morning practice round was considered unplayable due to snow on the course. After working through contingency plans and assessing the projected weather patterns over the next few days, the conference decided to host the first round of the tournament Sunday afternoon to give them an extra day to fit a round in if need be. 

"It was definitely an interesting day," head coach Spencer Williams said. "Our kids woke up expecting to get a practice round in and instead played the first round of conference championship golf on short notice. I'm really proud of how both of our teams responded to a difficult situation in a sport that already requires a tremendous amount of mental toughness."

The men's team finished the day in third place with a team score of 329 (+45), narrowly edging out Carroll College, who finished at 332 (+48), for the 3rd-place spot. Rocky Mountain College is the current leader of the pack with a score of 296 (+12) three strokes ahead of 2nd-place Montana Tech (+15).

Ben Kaul and Connor Mora are both tied for 12^th on the men's leaderboard, with both shooting an 80 for the day (+9). Trey Sharp finished the day in 14^th place with a score of 83 (+12) while Colton Stodghill shot a 86 (+15) to end up 19^th. Trenton Olson shot an 89 (+18) to end up tied for 22^nd place.

"Overall our men's team had a pretty solid day," Williams said. "Ben and Connor are right there in the mix. Trey has improved immensely since the fall and had a great round today. I think all of our guys are eager to go out again tomorrow and improve on their scores."

Kielar Jones is the Argo leader on the women's side, shooting an 87 (+16) on the day. She is only five strokes behind fourth place. Kate Murack finished in 21^st place with a 116 (+45), while M'Kenzie Whiteman sits at 23^rd place with a score of 125 (+54).

The women's team is in 6^th place with a score of 487 (+203). Rocky Mountain College leads the women's side with a score of 323 (+39), followed by Montana Tech 332 (+48).

"There are a ton of girls on the women's side who are bunched up between fourth place and 12^th place," Williams said. "Kielar is right there in the mix with them. I was very impressed with how she played today."
