Providence falls on the road in Helena

Argos allow 4 second half goals in 5-0 loss

UP SPORTS INFORMATION 

Helena, Mont., August 25, 2022 – A tight first half turned into a runaway as the University of Providence women's soccer team allowed four second-half goals in a 5-0 loss at Carroll College Thursday night. The Argos and Saints played even for the first 40 minutes before a Blair Stapleton goal in the 41st minute gave Carroll the lead. Providence was held to just one shot in the first half as both teams played keep away near midfield. The Argos finished with eight shots total, 4 of which were on goal. Stapleton scored just minutes into the second half with teammate Aryana Jones adding two of her own. Emily Funseth scored the other goal for the Saints.  

Macee Cook and Kaitlyn Sisler split time in the goal for Providence with each registering five saves apiece. The Argos were outshot 35-8 including a 16-4 shots on goal disadvantage. Daniela Waialeale and Julia Tilton both were credited with two shots apiece. The Argos fell to 0-2 on the season and will next play Rocky Mountain College at home Saturday afternoon at Argo Field.
