Billings, Mont. - Jenna Thorne had 18 kills and 20 digs, Adysen Burns added 12 kills along with 19 digs and the University of Providence picked up a 25-22, 23-25, 25-17, 25-12 win over MSU-Northern to close out the Frontier Conference Preseason Volleyball Tournament Saturday evening.
Zoe Naugle recorded 11 blocks along with seven kills for the Argos who went 2-2 in Billings. Bella Thompson continued her solid play with 37 assists, while Thorne added seven blocks while hitting .444 for the match with just two errors on 36 attacks. The teams traded blows for the first two sets before the Argos took control in the third and fourth to end the preseason slate 7-11 overall.
Head Coach Arunas Duda said the team played well to close out the tourney, "It was a good end to the weekend to see us get another win versus a conference opponent. We leave the weekend showing a lot of improvement and with much more confidence. Jenna had a really good day again. She is proving to be a go-to hitter in key times. I was also very impressed with the play of Kendra Pope off the bench who came in and added a much-needed spark to finish out sets two and three."
The Argos hit .205 as a team recording 52 kills, 20 errors, and 24 blocks overall. Jessalyn Chvilicek led the Skylights with 12 kills. MSU-Northern *8-5) hit .057 for the match.
