Gilbert, Ariz., - Three weeks into the season, the University of Providence was in a much-needed position to make some noise and but more importantly, make themselves feel better. Two tough losses in Arizona left the Argos volleyball team in the mode of searching for not only a win, but an identity. The Argos may have gotten some of that momentum and identity back. Providence picked up a 3-1 win over Arizona Christian at the Phoenix Tournament.

Jenna Thorne tallied 14 kills, 11 digs, while Bella Thompson and Taylor DeVries each had 20 assists to lead Providence to the 25-22, 13-25, 25-21, 25-23 victory. Taylor Christensen recorded a team high 16 digs for the Argos who improve to 2-8 overall. Head Coach Arunas Duda says it was a great win, one that helps confidence, "That was a big one for us, not for our record or standings, but for our morale. We have been improving with every match and we are finally able to finish some sets down the stretch. Very proud of our resilience, and excited to get back in the gym and continue our ascent."

Providence hit .110 for the match while ACU hit at a .172 clip. Deni Jackson and Krystan Peterson led the Firestorm with 12 kills apiece.

The University of Providence will next play at the Frontier/North Star Crossover in Havre beginning September 9th. For everything Argo Athletics, visit www.upargos.com.
