Argo men look to keep rolling at #12 Tech, hosting Carroll

Providence sits on top of Frontier standings, tied w/ Orediggers

GREAT FALLS, Mont. - First place in the Frontier Conference is on the line Thursday night when the University of Providence men play at #12 Montana Tech. The Argos also host Carroll College Saturday in Great Falls.

ABOUT TECH: The Orediggers are backing up last season's historic season, with another in 2022-2023. MT Tech is 18-3, off to the best 20-game start in school history but is coming off an 84-77 loss to Carroll College last week, snapping a nine-game win streak. Tech defeated the Argos by 13 on Jan. 12. Caleb Bellach (26) and Michael Ure (23 points, eight rebounds) led the 'Diggers in that victory. Tech averages 83.4 PPG (Points Per Game) and is +15.4 in scoring margin. Bellach, (Junior, Manhattan, Mont.) paces the way with 18.6 PPG. Keeley Bake (13.0 PPG), Ure (12.1 PPG, 6.8 RPG) and Asa Williams (12.0 PPG) all score in double figures.  

ABOUT CARROLL: Carroll is 4-4 in the Frontier led by current NAIA National Player of the Week, Andrew Cook (So., Huntington Beach, Calif.). Cook averaged 27.5 PPG, including a career-high 31 in a win over Montana Western. Cook averaged 65.5 percent from the field, and 89.5 percent from the free throw line in the two wins. He averaged 4 assists per game and pulled down six rebounds. On the season, Cook averages 18.2 PPG and shoots over 51% from the field and 39.3% from three-point range. Four Saints scored in double figures in the loss to the Argos on January 12, Brayden Koch (20), Isaiah Moore (18), Cook (17), and Brendan Temple (10).  

ON THE ARGOS: Providence enters the weekend tied for first in the Frontier with No. 12 Montana Tech with 6-2 marks. The Argos have won four straight and score an average of 80.8 PPG while giving up 76.1. Kenny Curtis (So. Rainier Beach, Wash.) had a team-high 23 points in the previous meeting at Tech. Davien Harris-Williams (Jr. Tacoma, Wash.) scored 35 in the win at Carroll on Jan. 12. Harris-Williams is averaging 21.9 PPG with senior Marcus Stephens (Hilltop, Wash.) right behind at 21.4 PPG. Curtis scores 13.6 PPG and has 63 assists and 35 steals this season. Eric Milner (Jr., San Bernadino, Calif.) scores 11.7 points per game, Jake Olsen (Sr., Great Falls, Mont.) averages 11.2 PPG and 7.4 RPG. Sam Vining (So., Great Falls, Mont.) is at 9.9 PPG and 8.0 RPG.
